Oracle Business Intelligence and Enterprise Performance Management
Oracle BI is the market leading software suite for BI worldwide, with thousands of delighted customers, huge internal development by Oracle and a great reputation with the BI analysts, including Forrester and Gartner.
Oracle recently made a fanfare launch of Oracle Exalytics, the first and only BI machine.
It is an out of the box hardware and software solution, which can deliver speed of thought analysis to managers and executives, whether real-time or historical, transactional or predictive.
The solution is sensibly priced for large and mid-size organisations and can be implemented and running live against your data sources in weeks. It can reuse licences bought and implementation work you have already done to deliver immediate knowledge at lightning speed.
Other key elements of the Oracle BI portfolio are
BI Answers and Dashboards– These are the tools that give you the adhoc reporting environment you built with Discoverer. Analysts and trained end users can build, utilise and drilldown richly formatted reports and deploy them on consistent, end-user focused dashboards.
BI Publisher – Formerly known as XML Publisher, this tool allows you to build and/or deploy rich format reports, for instance using MS-Word templates, to broad audiences. Reports can be burst, so individuals and managers only see the data they need.
BI Server –This is the engine where data tables and fields are mapped to business entities and attributes similar to a Discoverer End User Layer. These can be mapped directly with the base tables, as with Discoverer currently, or can be mapped to a new or pre-existing data warehouse.
BI Delivers –Allows you to detect specific results in your data and notify appropriate people automatically. For instance, when absence levels or off contract spend exceed a given tolerance in a department, a manager can be informed.
BI Applications - It is usually much cheaper to buy a packaged solution and extend it than build it from scratch. These prebuilt applications include data extraction, data warehouse, transformation to business entities and a rich selection of end user reports and metrics.
In addition to OBI, should you wish to build a data warehouse, Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) is packaged free with the Oracle database. For more advanced data extraction, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) or Informatica can be utilised. If you want to introduce cube technology to allow you to perform What If analysis, planning, budgeting and forecasting, for a relatively small licence increment, you can also implement Oracle Essbase, the engine behind Hyperion.
Parity has implemented Oracle solutions for many years and has gained considerable experience in this time implementing data warehouse and BI solutions for our clients.
